Disney Animation Studios & Pixar: What’s Next?

Okay, I know you all are dying to find out what’s in store for Disney Animation Studios and Pixar! And, rest easy, because I’m here to fill you in.

T-Rexes

This year has been a big one for Pixar, considering the fact that it is the first time in the history of the company that two of their movies have been released the same year. Following the hugely successful release of “Inside Out,” fans can also look forward to the upcoming release of “The Good Dinosaur.” “The Good Dinosaur” is the story of Arlo the dinosaur, who becomes separated from his family after the tragic death of his father. Arlo finds Spot, the animalistic cave-boy, who becomes to him what a dog becomes to a child in our world: one of the greatest companions. Fans can look forward to a touching story of discovery, love, loss, and adventure.

Fun fact: The director of “The Good Dinosaur,” Peter Sohn, did voice acting in Ratatouille! And he was also the visual inspiration for the lovable Russell from “Up.”

FindingDory

“Finding Dory” is something Pixar fans can finally look forward to! And nobody could possibly be more excited about this than Ellen Degeneres, who showed up to share her enthusiasm with D23 at the Pixar panel.

Finding Dory” tells the story of Dory and her quest to find her quirky parents, with the help of Marlin and Nemo, of course. A whole new cast of crazy characters awaits, basically voiced by the cast of Modern Family. …Okay, just Ty Burrell and Ted Oneill. But still, it’s exciting.

Moana

“Moana,” a new Disney Animation Studios film, was also discussed at length. “Moana” takes place in the South Pacific and tells the story of the adventurous princess and friend of the ocean, Moana. She takes inspiration from a demigod known as Maui, who is voiced by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who showed up at the panel to the extreme delight of many… Especially me. I had to fan myself with a program. I mean, have you seen that guy lately? Wooo-wee! For real, the muscles on that–

Anyway. “Moana” looks beautiful and well-researched, to say the least. The Rock is hilarious in his bits of the movie, which were showed off a little to the panel. He’s also beautiful.

Grace!!! Professionalism!!!

Okay. Toy Story 4.

John Lasseter discussed Toy Story 4 himself. He let on that the movie will actually be a love story between Woody and Bo Peep, inspired by his own love story with his wife. He also shot Hawaiian style Disney shirts out of a tee shirt cannon like a boss. Because he’s John Lasseter and he can do whatever he wants.

Gigantic

As usual, we can look forward to nothing but beautiful awesomeness coming from Disney Animation Studios and from Pixar. We received limited information in regards to the movies Gigantic and Coco, but they were officially announced as being based on Jack and the Bean Stalk and Day of the Dead lore.

Fun fact: Jack and the Bean stalk is John Lasseter’s favorite fairy tale!

Another fun fact: John Lasseter owns more than 500 Hawaiian style shirts!

Another fun fact: The Rock is a really beautiful man.

Okay, Grace. Get some water. Continue to wait in lines for more D23 panels and think about something other than The Rock.

It will be hard.

…Get it? Like a rock.

Stop, Grace. Do your job!
