Ahhhh… Zootopia, where predator and prey set their differences aside and live in perfect harmony! The main message is clear – get along with everyone. But there are many other things to pick up from this cute and funny film!
Synopsis
From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a wily fox who makes her job even harder.
Review
Zootopia is filled with vibrant colors and excellent animation. You’ll be in awe as the monorail zips through the different lands of Zootopia. The storyline is entertaining and seemed to hold everyone’s interest. There are several laugh-out-loud moments. There are also several moments where the entire audience will “jump” unexpectedly. What I didn’t expect was the “savage” aspect of the movie… none of the previews revealed what exactly what might go wrong – which made for a more surprising storyline, however, see the kid-factor below. Adults and kids will pick-up the message that they can become anything they want to be if they put the effort into reaching their goals. You don’t have to settle!
I most appreciated that the police force was looked upon as heroes – as they should be!
To have sloths representing BMV government employees was truthful and accurate (and hilarious!) Thank you, Disney.

Kid-Factor
As I mentioned above, a few animals are shown as going “savage.” The animals suddenly turn back to their predator ways, and are also depicted as having gone mad. They appear vicious and growl, which was frightening to some of the smaller children in the theater. I’d suggest using caution for children under 5 years of age… perhaps wait until it’s released on DVD if you’re unsure about having them see it in a theater. All other ages should be able to handle it just fine – unless you know your child is extra sensitive.
Credits
Should you stay through the credits? The actor/actress credits are included into the final concert scene of the movie, which is entertaining. There is not a final scene after the credits end, but the music is always fun to listen to.
