Last year, I posted a review for a documentary called In Plain Sight, which focuses on the not-so-pleasant subject of human trafficking. Here is something I posted in that review:
We all know that human trafficking is real. Young girls and women are sold into sex slavery every day. But, this all takes place in foreign/3rd world countries, right?
WRONG! It’s taking place right here in the United States of America. It’s happening in the big cities, but it’s also happening in small towns and rural areas. Parents are selling their daughters for money or other material items; and those daughters are abused and forced to do more degrading things than most of us can even imagine. And contrary to what you might believe – that most of these girls and women are illegal immigrants – recent statistics tell a very different story: over 80 percent of victims in 2011 confirmed sex trafficking cases in this country were American citizens.
This is scary stuff! Human trafficking is real!
