Today we’re going to be talking about a type of tea you may have never heard of before – Mate Tea. It’s not a “true tea” because it doesn’t come from the Camelia Sinensis plant.
Characteristics of Mate Tea
Mate tea comes from the South American plant, Yerba Mate.
It’s caffeine-rich and earthy in taste.
Mate tea is great to share with friends as an energizing social beverage!
Similar to coffee, Mate is roasted for a toasty, full flavor.
Using a scale of 1-3 teacups, Mate teas contains 1 1/2 teacups of caffeine.
FUN IDEA: swap your coffee with Mate tea for an antioxidant rich caffeine fix.
